Exploring all Disney theme parks is often a goal of a true Walt Disney fan. Hong Kong Disneyland does not disappoint and offers its guests distinguishing features versus other Disney parks. Whether you are an uber-fan or just like amusement parks, a day at this park makes for a fun-filled day.

The park is located in Penny’s Bay on Lantau Island, Hong Kong. It also happens to be the largest theme park in Hong Kong. Getting to the park is extremely easy and a short, 30-minute train ride from the Hong Kong International Airport. Board the MTR, their subway system, to HK Disneyland Resort Station. After a quick transfer on the subway, Disney Resort Line monorail transports you on their posh Disney Train with Disney eared windows and plush seats.

Arriving at the park, two major differences are present. One, everything in the park looks brand new. The park opened in September of 2005. The other major distinguishing factor is the spectacular Lantau Mountains surrounding the area.
Before or after arriving at the park, download the Hong Kong Disney App to check wait times, locate favorite characters, make reservations and more. No more trying to find out when and where you can meet Mickey, easily locate character appearances in the park and parades.

Hong Kong Disneyland has 7 lands—Adventureland, Grizzly Gulch, Mystic Point, Toy Story Land, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, and Main Street, U.S.A.
What rides does Hong Kong Disneyland offer that’s different than other Disney parks? Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle opened this past March, and the ride is already a fan favorite. It is the world’s first attraction featuring Ant-Man and The Wasp, as well as the first Marvel-themed attraction featuring a female Super Hero as a lead character. Disney.com

Iron Man Experience, opened in 2017 and was the first-ever Marvel-themed ride to be featured at a Disney theme park. The new “Frozen” area will feature a one-of-a-kind coaster called Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs that will take guests on a winding journey through Arendelle. The expansions continue through 2023, with an entire Marvel-themed area is planned, Disney states.
Want to play and stay at the park? Hong Kong Disneyland offers three resort hotels: Disney’s Hollywood Hotel, Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel, and Disney’s Explorers Lodge. Each hotel curated for the ultimate experience.

Hong Kong Disneyland wait times for attractions, during the weekday, seemed shorter than US parks. Wait times of no more than 30 minutes the entire day we were visiting. Most rides were less than a 15-minute wait time. The rides seemed to hold more people and moved quicker, making it less stressful for everyone. Fast pass was available at the park but wasn’t difficult to get for Space Mountain as it can be in Orlando and Anaheim. The App for Hong Kong Disneyland was easy to use and can be downloaded here: https://www.hongkongdisneyland.com/mobile-app/ . The Disneyland App contains a map of the theme park, when to meet characters, showtimes, park hours, and more.

After enjoying a relaxing day at the park, delve into a selection of food choices that are spectacular. American, comfort, fried foods are in a small section and Asian specialties are in abundance. Ordering at one of a variety of their fast food cafe’s serves up a feast of tasty, delicious, and healthy food options not as easily available in the US counterparts of Disney.

The park offers a relaxed atmosphere with a variety of rides, delectable food, and topography of Hong Kong that sets it apart from all others. A wonderful way to spend a day with family, kids, or an adults-only day. All Disney parks are alike in one, very distinct way, by their ability to create a magical day.

TIP Plan an upcoming trip during the Chinese New Year Celebrations.
